When heaven calls its angels to account, grounding yourself is just the beginning.

In a modern-day world hidden from human eyes, a tense hierarchy exists between ancient, established celestial beings and a vulnerable new generation of angels. Desperate to escape a brutal war and better understand the mortals she shares a world with, a third-generation angel named Gabrinova goes to ground. She takes on the earthly guise of Carrie Staag, choosing to honor and keep alive the best qualities of a fallen human soul who tragically succumbed to addiction and abuse.

Living as Carrie in West Hollywood, she successfully balances a normal human routine—navigating a tight-knit friend group, working a level-one I.T. support job, and falling for a sexy new guy she completely hits it off with. But her quiet existence shatters when a serial killer begins targeting her fellow grounded peers.

The gruesome homicides bear an eerie, unmistakable resemblance to an ancient cycle of historical slaughters, leaving Heaven's complex layers of leadership paralyzed by a single, burning question: Is this a hidden, corrupt course correction designed to purge fallen angels, or is it outright murder?

Because of her proximity to the victims and her unconventional human foundation, suspicion points squarely back to Carrie. Cornered by Samael, a powerful and legendary senior Archangel, she is forced into a dubious investigation to uncover the truth. Navigating dangerous celestial politics while challenging an ancient status quo, Carrie must untangle a deadly conspiracy before she becomes the next target.
